Our group's primary focus is the development of computational methods for problems in molecular biology. Most of our work is in genomics, with emphasis on microbial genomes.

- The MENGO project. This project aims to develop Gene Ontology terms for microbial bioenergy processes. Funded by the DOE.
- Integrated management of oomycete diseases of soybean and other crop plants. PI: Brett Tyler. Funded by the USDA CAP program.
- Red Sea Metagenomics, in collaboration with Hamza El-Dorry, American University in Cairo, Egypt. Funded by KAUST (Saudi Arabia).
- Metagenomics of the Sao Paulo Zoo compost operation. In collaboration with Luiz Juliano Neto, from UNIFESP-Brazil. Funded by FAPESP (Brazil).
- A study of genomic variability in Pseudomonas syringae, in collaboration with Boris Vinatzer (Plant Pathology and Weed Science, VTech). See also Plant Associated and Environmental Microbes Database (PAMDB).
